Mingyi Sung (born 1996, Taiwan) uses photography as a therapeutic tool to represent intimate relationships in the 21st century. Her practice involves staged photographs, self-portrait, performance, and text, combined with feminist and phototherapy methodologies. Often embedding a sense of vulnerability and melancholy, Sung’s work reveals the nuances of love and intimacy, as well as the impact of trauma on self-esteem.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in English and had worked as a teacher in public secondary schools in Taiwan. Her work had been exhibited in various group exhibitions, including The Truman Brewery (London), The Sydenham Artists Trail (London), The Lightbox Gallery (Woking, UK), and VT Artsalon (Taipei). She is a recent graduate of MFA photography at the University for the Creative Arts, UK.
